The ECC+C On-Line Scripture Study Group.
We have built a programme of study with resources for all people wanting to further their understanding of The Word of God. This is an on-going study resource which can be used either as a personal scripture learning aid or as a part of a structured programme of modularised study leading to ECC+C Certificates of Learning Achievement in Scripture.
Programmes of study are to further the depth of personal understanding of Scripture, making relevant the Word of God within modern and busy lives - this is not an in-depth Theological Programme.
People can choose to e-study with each other or on their own and both forms of personal choice for study will be overseen by an assigned personal or group tutor. All stages of attainment will serve towards any person's continued learning, their quest for Spiritual Growth or as Units towards studies for their ECC ministry, either ordained or lay.
Please note: This programme of study can only be accessed once individuals have registered with us. This ensures we can give you the time and tuition you need in a confidential and personal way.
An example of the beginner level is below for people to assess whether it may be of interest. The study programme will be sent to your inbox as you complete the stages but won't be published here.
There are two levels of study available - beginners and intermediate. Anyone wanting to study at a higher level may already have qualifications in Theology. We will be catering for people at this level in the future.
Below is an example shown for people wanting to start their scripture experience from scratch, at 'beginner' study level. Each learning module will start and end with prayer. Before individuals start their sessions towards acheiving each module, prayer will be necessary and we will help with this but you can adapt our prayer to suit your own relationship with God.
Module One - Exploring Christianity
This is a small part of the first Module and is called 'Exploring Christianity' and covers our understanding of the existence of God.
Christianity is about being able to have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. In order to believe in God, do humans need to have been introduced to Him, personally? Did God think this was the case? Did He then decree that in order for this to be achieved, God must become Man - the person we call Jesus Christ?
Read The Gospel of Mark
Q: What do the opening chapters of Mark tell you about who Jesus is?
Q: What are the implications for you personally, regarding how you relate to Christ through reading the Gospel of Mark?
Q: Jesus' priority here is preaching not healing - why would this be the case?
There is a small fee of £2 per Unit/Module but you will tell that this is to cover the costs of resources such as postage and reading matter only. Each Unit/Module can be completed in your own time but the estimation is for two weeks. Tutor time is given freely. If fees can be made for 5 modules in advance - we do not want anyone to pay over this in case their time or inclination for study alters in any way. Should the 5 modules not be completed, then fees will be returned at your request. If anyone is in hardship, please email and concessions will always be made.
This learning achievement is for personal and spiritual growth and a greater understanding of your faith. It is designed to help you find your way to God and/or assist in your pastoral work within your communities. It is not designed to further careers and Certificates of Achievement are just that, they are not accredited by a registered academic institution as yet. We are applying for accreditation at higher levels of study.
